I will start by saying that I am 61 and have lived with macular degeneration for 30 years (20/200 vision). The Verizon Coupe has a niche with those of us that are visually challenged.

There are a number of features that may appeal to those with fading eyesight. In addition to the backlit keypad, the Coupe has larger font menus than most (Motorola, LG and Samsung). In addition, you can set the phone to speak the menu selection, so you don’t actually have to read them. Since speech recognition allows you can specify a contact by saying a name, you can pretty much navigate the phone without reading menus.

The manual is bilingual English and Spanish and it’s printed in a larger than usual font (Thank you Verizon). Instructions are very to-the-point.
